Lower Falls was a rushing torrent, not too spectacular.
There was, however, a covered picnic area so we had a snack.
The steps were a great help in scaling some of the hills however
it was wicked steep and I was pretty slow..
Suddenly, there we were at the Middle Falls.
The water roared down its 265 foot drop and crashed on the rocks below.
Here's a closeup of the rocks at the bottom of the falls.
It really was spectacular and worth the climb..
After a very short debate as to whether to continue upwards to the
Upper Falls, we decided we'd call it a day and head back.
We also decided we'd return via the Railroad Grade trail which added
a mile to our journey but ahhhhh, there was very little climbing.
The path was wide and smooth with very gentle slopes..
I was impressed with the beautiful fungi which decorated the mossy trees.
Here's another one. By now the sun had come out and
the light shone through the trees. Everything was steaming,
including us.

On the way home, I took a picture of the Scottish Broom which
lines the roadways at this time of year. I know it's a weed
but it brightens the landscape so much.

And so ended our day - home we went to soak our aching feet. :)
