This fellow graces the roof of an Index auction barn which is currently for sale. The estimated population of Index in 2003 was 159. I don't imagine it has grown much since then. It is located on the North Fork of the Skykomish River and was named after Mount Index which resembles a giant index finger. Index was the location for the 1987 movie "Harry and the Hendersons."
