Folklore has it that the height of Queen Anne's Lace predicts next winter's snowfall in the area. If that's the case, the folks in Skagit county had better get ready for a big one. It's only July and this plant is well over six feet high.

On our way back we made a brief stop at Big Four. A few weeks ago it was still snowed in. Today families were picnicking in the sunshine. The icecaves have reopened and many people had come to hike there.

The water really is this blue in this part of the river. The two colors (light and dark) indicate the meeting of the Suiattle River and the Sauk River.

We stopped at Ivar's in Mukilteo on the way home to celebrate our anniversary. 'Cheers' says Tim as he raises his glass and toasts us.

Tim chose Wasabi Pickled Ginger Crusted Ahi Tuna with steamed baby bok choy, ginger-lime vinaigrette, baby frisee carrot salad and coconut scented forbidden rice.

'Cheers to you too.' I toast us as well.

The name of my meal has always made me laugh out loud so I figured it was about time to try it. Halibut cheeks! ('Which cheeks?' asks Tim innocently.) These are Wild Alaskan Halibut Cheeks and boy, are they delicious! They're served on a bed of baby frisee carrot salad, summer grilled vegetable hash and huckleberry chive vinaigrette. Top marks! For once we did not order dessert - we were too full.

We walked on the nearby pier for a few minutes, watching the ferries come in and out. Then we headed for home. It was a very nice anniversary indeed.
