There are several paths to the beach through the dunes.

My breath always catches when I get to the top of the dune and spy the ocean.

For once, I didn't get a soaker, or drenched by a rogue wave. This is probably because I thought ahead and brought a change of clothing.

Small flocks of sandpipers skittered back and forth along the water's edge.

The receding tide gave up sand dollars and shells, treasures of the sea.

As we left, we stopped for a picture of Grays Harbor Lighthouse, located at this park. We'd been wondering why it was so far away from the water. When it was first built, it was a mere 400 feet from high tide. Now it is around 3000 feet away, owing to large amounts of accretion which have accumulated.

As we neared Olympia on the drive home, I took the next three pictures out of the car window. They're cow and bull sculptures. I swear that they used to stand in Woodinville.

They've been reviewed by the Roadside America team

I love them, and I wish there was a place to stop and take pictures. I had to snap away from a car at 60 miles an hour.

Further along, near Tacoma, Elvis wanted us to go to his big sale. Thank ya, thank ya very much!

I tried vainly to get a picture of beautiful Mount Rainier in the golden glow of the setting sun as we belted along the I-5. What a glorious mountain, and what a fun day too. :)
