Fungi grew in many places.
   
Here's a fun guy taking a break beside the Sauk River. There's much more water here.
 

Many of the tall trees had thick moss growing on their north sides.

   

Below them grew a variety of tiny wildflowers. These are Foamflowers.

  

Tim's still striding on, often leaving me behind in the dust.

 
He hears a rustling in the bushes across the river and there's a deer!

At the end of the trail, Tim celebrates his victory.

   

We eat lunch at the trailhead. We only saw one couple and a dog the whole time we were here.

  

On the way home we drove past the site of the the deadliest single landslide event in United States history.

 
The 2014 Oso Mudslide is much closer to the road than I'd imagined. We do not stop.

It's hard to imagine that there was once a community under the mud. We drive quietly home.
