Our first stop was Golden Gardens Park, a lovely green area, bordered by beaches on the shore of Puget sound, with a wonderful view of the Olympic Mountains. HERE is a link to read about this park which opened in 1920. According to old newspaper reports, "Golden Gardens was named in 1907 by Harry Treat, a real-estate baron whose trolley brought Ballard residents here each weekend. He hoped they'd scoop up the land.
