This is the view from near the top of the Inferno Cone, one of the cinder cones.
Tim set off first, up the slope. Hmmm, didn't look too hard, did it, even though the sign said "altitude gain of 200 ft". Deceptively, this was only the first stage and there were two more climbs after this one.

I am smiling too. I was not smiling on the way down. I hadn't realized a) how tough it was, climbing at an altitude of over 6,000 feet and b) how freakin' HOT it was. I was feeling quite woozy for a while afterwards.
