Time for a break, so we stopped at the Lochsa Historic Ranger Station which was manned by a delightful couple in their 70s-80s. The husband had been a Ranger in the area before it became a National Forest. They invited us to climb the hill to their cabin to see their hummingbird feeders so we eagerly took them up on this offer and were amazed to see and hear many beautiful Rufous hummingbirds buzzing in and out for a drink of sugar water. It was truly an experience!
