At last we reach the town of Lewiston, on the border of Idaho and Washington and its sister town Clarkston. The view from the motel window was lovely.

The Lewis-Clark Valley is located 465 river miles from the Pacific Ocean at the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers. The twin cities of Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington, named in honor of the Corps of Discovery explorers, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, serve as a regional service center for the Inland Northwest. Lewiston is the site of Idaho’s first capital, which was later moved to Boise. Lewiston is also the site of Idaho’s only seaport, one of three port facilities serving the Lewis-Clark Valley.
