After we crossed
the Columbia River, we spied "Scenic View Ahead" sign,
and a marker pointing to Wild Horse Monument, situated on top of
a hill overlooking the Columbia River..
" A
'Work in Progress' the Wild Horse Monument on the east side of I-90
at Vantage, WA. Many a driver has been surprised by the herd of
wild horses cavorting on the ridge above the highway. Certainly
worth a brief stop and climb (with proper shoes as the trail can
be treacherous). When completed a large basket will appear behind
the last horse. The monument depicts the legend of 'Grandfather
Cut Loose the Ponies'."
Surprisingly,
the horses are flat, not three-dimensional. |
