| As we drive north and west, we cross the Hood Canal Floating Bridge, one of five floating bridges in the world (four of which are in Washington). The Hood Canal isn't really a canal either - it's a naturally-occurring channel. A mapmaker once recorded it as Hood Canal though, instead of Hood Channel, and the name stuck. |
