and Andrew Espeland ride camels in the Sudan.
Grandmother Laura used
to tell us many stories of their life in Khartoum. One story
involved her attending a dinner party with her husband. The
meat served was unfamiliar to her, but very tasty. After dinner,
she asked the hostess what it was, and was told it was roast
camel. That was the first and last time she ate camel, according
to her.
