Currently at the Zoo is a Spider Exhibition called Masters of the Web. I'm not a raving fan of spiders but I do find them interesting as long as they are behind glass.

The exhibit was very crowded with kids, and very dark so I didn't get many pictures. This one's a type of tarantula - I think it's called a Hairy Tarantula.
Once in a while we read of someone finding a spider in his bunch of bananas. Here's the (aptly named) Banana Spider
One of two baby gorillas sat pensively on a log in the heat, waiting for Mama to awaken.
A couple of Colobus Monkeys sprawled lazily up in the trees, paying no attention to those of us who tried to get them to move and show off their beautiful tails.
Another new exhibit is the Jaguar. I didn't know that jaguars lived alone, and that if they lived with another one, they'd probably kill each other. At least that's what the docent at the exhibit said.

Roaming the grounds was a rather bedraggled looking peacock. We wondered if he had escaped from his pen. He certainly had no fear.

So ended our brief and enjoyable afternoon. I have a feeling that the pass to the Zoo will be well used this year. :D
