Currently
at the Zoo is a Spider Exhibition called Masters
of the Web. I'm not a raving fan of spiders but I do find
them interesting as long as they are behind glass.
The exhibit was very crowded with kids, and very dark so I didn't
get many pictures. This one's a type of tarantula - I think it's called
a Hairy Tarantula. |

Once
in a while we read of someone finding a spider in his bunch of bananas.
Here's the (aptly named) Banana Spider |
|
One
of two baby gorillas sat pensively on a log in the heat, waiting for
Mama to awaken. |
|
A
couple of Colobus Monkeys sprawled lazily up in the trees, paying
no attention to those of us who tried to get them to move and show
off their beautiful tails. |
|
Another
new exhibit is the Jaguar. I didn't know that jaguars lived alone,
and that if they lived with another one, they'd probably kill each
other. At least that's what the docent at the exhibit said. |

Roaming the
grounds was a rather bedraggled looking peacock. We wondered if
he had escaped from his pen. He certainly had no fear.
So ended our brief and enjoyable afternoon. I have a feeling that
the pass to the Zoo will be well used this year. :D
