Tim had a week's holiday recently so off we went to  Grays Harbor and Westport despite the miserable weather forecast - rain, rain, rain.  We figured we might as well watch the rain from a different location.  A change is as good as a rest, right?

Day One

For a change of pace we drove  through snow flurry after snow flurry

for what seemed like half of the 150 miles.  What a start!

By the time we arrived, the snow had changed to rain.
Here's a photo af Westport Harbor taken through the windshield.

To kill some time until we could check-in to our hotel we drove
around
to look at some of  the colorful murals on the waterfront buildings.

There were all sorts of scenes depicted, from historical to fantasy.

The scale on this one made us smile - gulls bigger than surfers
and Tsunami-sized waves.  Westport is a popular spot for surfers.

We were surprised to see Scotch Broom blooming in many places already.

The rain stopped after we checked in so we went
to the beach.  Look out Tim!  You're being followed!

Poor little pussywillows look very confused, and cold.

I tried the Beach Trail however it was too flooded for me.

Across the dunes we went and there it was - the Pacific Ocean.
It thundered away as the waves crashed onto the shore.

I love it here.

I could watch and listen to the waves for hours.

It's beautiful at dusk.
