We decided that the Bald Eagle numbers had not reached their peak yet, so we'd try to return after Christmas.  We watched for a while then headed south for a picnic, and a drive home along the scenic route, looking for Snow Geese.

It was great to see the Snow Geese again, stopping in farmers' fields for a snack.

Here's another group with beautiful Mount Baker in the background.

A little further on the flocks seemed to be getting bigger and noisier.

The air was full of their cries.

Before we knew it they all took off together and flew overhead.

The murmuration of geese flew directly over us.  Apparently a nearby eagle cause this upheaval.

Soon they began to land in the fields again.

Suddenly there was the sound of rifle shots and off they went.

I don't think I'll ever forget that experience.

Here is Tim's movie of this experience.

I really enjoyed that trip.
