We could hardly
believe our luck today. It is Saturday and it is NOT raining! Off we
went, up North to see our beloved mountains, wondering how snowy they
were. We also wanted to see if any Bald Eagles had showed up at the
Nooksack River yet, misled by the cold and snowy weather recently.
|
|
On our way to the
Nooksack River, we stopped to admire the frosting of snow atop the Twin
Sisters Mountains, with Mount Baker peeking over the hill at the left. |
|
As we suspected,
it was a bit early for the massive migration of Bald Eagles, but we managed
to see some. Here are three adults and an immature. |
|
As always, I took
a picture of the spot where we lunched. It's a little park off Truck Road,
and it's a very pretty area, even at this time of year. |
|
Wow, weird stance,
Ang! No, I have not wet my pants. In a mad dash to laugh at the sign,
Angela, the Dog Pooh Magnet trod in a freshly laid divot of dog doo. UGH!
(I turned the air blue, I can tell you!) |
|
I dunno why I took
this picture. I thought it looked like an egg, laid right in the middle
of a weed, and I thought it was kinda pretty :) |
|
We saw quite a few
Great Blue Herons today. This fellow was just standing in a field beside
the road, looking very nonchalant. |
|
And what wonderful
luck! A few miles down the road, this pastoral scene greeted us. A little
flock of sheep grazed beside a pond, ignored by another Great Blue Heron. |
