October 24- November 1

Our plane landed at Logan Airport in Boston at 6:30 a.m. on October 25, ahead of schedule thanks to some nice tailwinds. Wow, 4 1/2 hours coast to coast! Not too shabby!

(Sadly we were not so lucky on the way home when the plane took off late and battled 100 mph headwinds. The trip took nearly 6 1/2 hours.)

Tim's brother Tom met us at the airport and took us to Manchester By The Sea to spend the day and first night.

Here's the lovely view from Tom and Beth's third floor apartment. It was truly beautiful, and the Atlantic Ocean was not far away.
I met Charlie 8 years ago and he's as cute as ever. He thinks nothing of racing around the top of the balcony railing, although it made me very nervous to see him up there.

Tom took us for a ride around town. Here's Singing Beach, named for the sand which squeaks when walked upon. That's the Atlantic Ocean.

Tom sometimes swims here in the winter, with the Polar Bear Club.

We also drove along the harborfront, watching a helicopter maneuver at a Homeland Security station.

Tim and Tom were sure someone would come out and stop us taking pictures, but no-one did.

The next day we headed for Westfield and Tim's Mom and Dad.

The drive was pleasant and very pretty but darn it, we had missed most of the beautiful Autumn colors.

Tim's Dad reclines in his favorite LazyBoy chair.

We spent a lot of time drinking coffee and chatting around the dining room table.

Although it was two years since our last visit, we felt as if we had just left.

Tim and his Dad do a "guy thing". The deck is new, and Tim is laying some patio stones at the foot of the staircase, supervised by his father.
