Pretty Skunk Cabbages brightened up many areas of the woods.
We could hear the roar of water, and soon spotted the river.
At first the wide Stillaquamish flowed peacefully along.
As we hiked further, the river narrowed, the canyon walls steepened
and the water rushed along much more quickly.
Soon we found ourselves in a full-fledged canyon.
The path deteriorated quite a bit too, becoming strewn with boulders.
We found ourselves fording small streams which flowed downhill into the river.
Several large rockslides blocked our way but onward we went, nonetheless.
Intermittent rain showers made the going very slippery indeed.
