A
Visit With Mother
Mount Rainier, WA
And here's the reflection
in the lake, amidst the rafts of melting ice.
Beautiful blue lupins lined
the roadway.
Clumps of Indian Paintbrush
made bright spots along the way.
Large areas were covered
with delicate Avalanche Lilies.
A fragile Crimson Columbine
waved in the breeze.
Tiny Yellow Wood Violets
glowed in the sunshine.
Next to them were a couple
of even tinier Blue Violets.
We decided to continue on,
driving down Stevens Canyon.
That's the road we took,
a narrow track along the side of the mountain.
Patches of Cliff Penstemon
dotted the rocky slopes and grass verges. They really are as bright as they
look here.
