It was a perfect spot for lunch.
   
     
   
     
Glacier Peak peeked at us from the left.
 
     
   
     
And Mac Peak guarded the right perimeters.
   
     
   
     
Many of these fluffy milkweed-type of plants grew along the edge of the road.
  
     
   
     
At first glance I thought these cones were small birds perched in the Fir tree.
 
     
   
     
After lunch we ran into snow which got deeper by the minute so we turned around.

     
   
     
Down the mountain we went.
   
     
   
     
Now and then, a break in the trees showed us what was beyond, like Mount Hinman.
 
 
     
   
     
And we even saw a few 'normal-looking' Autumn leaves!

     
   
     

Home we went via Highway 2, happy to be out on a nice day.

PS: During the 5 hours we spent in the mountains we saw 5 cars and 3 motor bikes. Go figure! I guess everyone must have been out shopping. To each his own.
