In the
Blacksmith Shop, a volunteer demonstrates how tools and hardware
were made for company use and trade. |

Here's
another area of the Smithy |

In the
corner was the Clerks' House, built to separate the clerks
from the primary officers. The building was also used as offices,
and living quarters for important visitors. |
|
|
Across
the quadrangle was the Laborers' Dwelling, used to house the
laborers. These cabins were often divided into small rooms. |

Here's
one of the rooms in the Laborers' Dwelling. |

Several
laborers slept in the same room. |

Tucked
away in another corner of the quadrangle was the Kitchen building,
located close to the benefactor's house in order that he would
receive efficient service. There were vegetable gardens on
each side of the Kitchen house. |
|
|
We were
not allowed past the doorway of many of the buildings so it
was not easy to get a good picture of the inside. Here's a
shot of the Kitchen building.. |
