A little further along was a panoramic view of south Seattle. Qwest Field is the home of the Seattle Seahawks football team. In the background can be seen large cranes.

Nearby is Safeco Field with its retractable roof, home of Seattle's baseball team, the Seattle Mariners.

Looking northward at the city skyline, you can see the small white tower on the left, the Smith Tower which used be the tallest building west of the Mississippi. The largest black tower is the Columbia Center.

Nearby is the Jose Rizal Park, built in honor of a Filipino patriot who made lasting contributions to medicine, political and social reform, engineering and a large number of other disciplines.

And a short distance away is yet another park, a Japanese Stroll Garden named Katie Black's Garden. It is said that in 1913 Frank D. Black offered his wife, Kate Gilmore Black, a "Grand Tour" of Europe. But Kate replied that she would much prefer a grand Japanese garden instead.

Our last stop was the Pioneer Square Area in downtown Seattle. On one corner of the square is the beautiful little Waterfall Garden Park, birthplace of UPS.

A 22 foot waterfall cascades down rocks with a burbling sound.

There are several levels of seating, and the area is very popular at lunchtime, and with shoppers who need a break.
