One of the very few Vacancy signs we saw during this trip. I would bet it became No Vacancy quickly. Those who had not made reservations ahead could be spotted in the Motel parking lots, AAA books in hand, GPS units flashing away as they desperately tried to find lodging. Even the crappiest-looking motel in town had a No Vacancy sign on the weekend.

Local stores on Forks Avenue (the main drag) took full advantage of the lure of Twilight. Many seemed to have had recent Twilight makeovers.

Not only did the big Thriftway store have ghostly pictures of Bella and Edward in the windows but also it called itself the home of the Twilight Gift shop.

A candy store on the main steet had this in its window: 'The sweetest spot in Forks will satisfy even a vampire's sweet tooth.' And it was signed 'Stephenie Meyer'.

Many stores on the main street had quickly become souvenir shops.

Even the Smokehouse Restaurant was cashing in on the craze. We ate there once, many years ago and vowed never, ever again to darken the doorway. It was quite possibly the worst meal we've ever paid for.

Not everyone is a Twilight fan. We found this post 'way out in the woods when we were searching for the Big Cedar tree. We laughed so hard when we saw it.

Here's the famous Forks High School sign, where Bella and Edward went to school. It was a popular tourist destination.

According to the Twilight Tours notes we would find Chief Swan's car parked somewhere on the Forks City Hall lot. We drove around it on two different days but couldn't spot it.
