We retraced our steps, back through the culvert.

A Black-tailed deer grazed at the side of the highway, ignoring the traffic.

It's Sunday, and time to head back to Seattle. We took the scenic route down the coast, stopping now and then for a look. Tim was particularly interested in the tree growing on one of the sea stacks.

Whoa - great spotting, Tim. We're always thrilled to see a Bald Eagle.

Here's Beach Four. No tide pools for me today either.

As we drove over a bridge near Lake Quinault we spotted a huge herd of Roosevelt Elk.

Tim counted at least 30 of them, with more in the bushes.

They were lounging around on a dry riverbed.

We watched them (and they watched us) for 5 or 10 minutes.

Then off they all went into the bushes. I was beyond thrilled to see them.

Tiger Swallowtail butterflies were everywhere but not many stayed still.

Also beside the road was Bunch Creek Falls, about 60 feet high.

Lastly we stopped at Westport to look at the Brown Pelicans.

We enjoyed a fish-and-chip lunch at Bennett's Fish Shack at Westport Marina. Then off we went to Bremerton and the ferry home. What a nice ending to a great holiday.
