We'd read
with some degree of excitement this week that the road to Artist
Point was open. Artist Point is a lovely area, elevation 5000
feet with astonishing views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan in
clear weather. It's only open for two or three months a year,
because of the snow.
We were also interested in investigating the Twin Lakes trail,
not too far from there. July 19th seemed to be an ideal candidate
for a trip there, so off we went.
Here are a few pictures of our day.

Our first real
look at Mt. Baker, on the road to Heather Meadows.
The parking
lot at Artist Point was clear but the surrounding area was covered
with deep snow. Luckily it was hard enough to walk on. That's
Mount Shuksan in the background.
