The Black Oystercatchers
were very funny. They'd creep towards the edge of the big flat rock
and when a wave crashed over it, they'd all race backwards to safety.
Uh oh - what's
that we see? A cloudbank is rolling in, quicky, obscuring Tatoosh
Island with its lighthouse and the big rock where the sea lions
like to lounge.
We decide to wait a while
and see if the cloudbank rolls out as quickly as it rolled in.
Hmmm. It looks
as if it's here to stay.
If you could see through the
fog you would be looking at the island. Sadly, it was not to be
today.
We head for
the Makah beaches for our picnic but oh dear, they are socked in
also.
Meanwhile at
Neah Bay, only a few miles away, the sky is blue and clear.
These tall Makah
Warriors are on the lawn at the Makah museum.

Day
4: the Hoh Rainforest and Ruby Beach |
Driving into the
Olympic National Park and the Hoh Rainforest we followed the Hoh
River for a while.
And oh boy,
here's another big tree to hug, this time a Spruce.
