Day 5: the last day...SoleDuck Falls

On the way home we drove up into the Olympic Mountains for a short hike into Soleduck Falls.

It was another beautiful forest - tall trees let rays of sunlight in.

Tiny plants and berries lined the pathway.

Fallen logs looked festive with their decorations of fungi and tiny little flowers.

Just before we reached the Falls we came upon a shelter from the elements. It was not needed today, unless it was to get out of the way of all the other hikers. Whoa Nellie, it was busy!

The picture doesn't do the waterfall justice. There were three cataracts of water falling over a sheer rock wall to a canyon below.

Here's the top of the cataracts.

On the way back I managed to take a picture of a Douglas Squirrel.

I feel a little sad as this marks the end of our trip.

However, my Birthday Shirt says it all.

Tim took a lot of beautiful infra-red pictures on the trip. A link to them and some of his color photos is ( here ).
